Fished the lower tyne estuary lastnite, first cast small codling 2nd cast picked rod up just about to reel in with it being in the water for about 30mins without no movement and as av picked it up sumthing nearly pulled me rod out me hand. Waiting a second and felt it again so struck instinly new it was a decent fish. 5 mins later got it too the pier wall a cod estimated about 8lb going berserk but before av had a chance to do anything yes you guessed it SNAPPPPPP :-( :-(:-(:-( GUTTED!!!!!!!

Tough luck Carlos mate.
I was fishing next to a very good angler on the Heugh at Hartlepool one day when he hooked into an 8lb er. He was only using two hook flapper rig with small hooks. He brought the fish up to the surface and then walked along to the steps gently guiding the fish along. I went down the steps and got the fish for him.
I know this is not always the case as usually there are no steps but it was good to see someone experienced dealing with a big fish.
Mick.Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.

unlucky on the lost fish m8 big hooks plenty lentgh shocky and 60lb body and hook snood length might save the loss next time sometimes it helps to plan a way for getting a big fish in before hand incase

unlucky for the lad who lost the fish, few times i have fished the beach and not bothered changing the length of shockleader for the piers on the next session which could have resulted in a lost fish
