penn magnets

    i superglued the magnets back into my 525 the wrong way when they fell out, so i heated them with a lighter to get them out, now would that of knacked the magnets because they dont seem to be slowing the reel down anymore?? so would the heat of the flame damage them?

    also if i do need new ones what would the size be?

    I've just googled heating up magnets for yer mate and it's not good news. Apparently if their heated up to much they loose all magnetism

        bugger, ah well,.. you can get 50 for a fiver so all isnt bad. or i can import the full part + magnets from the U.S.A for £10

          I have changed 1 of my 525 mags to run on the bigger size rare earth magnets as all 4 of the originals had rusted away to nowt
          I bought 10 off ebay for about £4, there mega strong mind. I had to thin the mag carrier down with a stanly blade then glued 2 magnets on. So much control now it's better than it was when it was standard

            Ah well that aint to bad matey. I'd go for the full part for a tenner personally then you know it'll be right, small price to pay really.

                well i managed to get hold of some new magnets. reel works a treat now. also have 38 left over if any of you would want some to piggy back your magnets to make them stronger?
