Found a couple of reels in the outhouse.
    Garcia Mitchell 600 AP
    Dolphin Olympic 614
    Shimano GT-R 4000
    All in good condition.
Are these reels any good? i fancy doing a bit boat fishing so it will save me buying a reel and the shimano for spinning / lure fishing.

Didn't take any notice mate I will have a look tomorrow.
Will it make a difference if it's one or the other?

      Cheers.

600AP was first multi I had years ago. Not sure what 'bakelite' is but presume its the plastic type spool. If so I went through quite a few of them due to the exploding side plate issue when line was reeled on under a bit of pressure ( ie; with a fish on), and that was just shore fishing. If boat fishing the plastic spool would imo be pretty useless.

My first Multiplier was the 602AP i think with a Don's antilash fitted. I can remember my Dad making spare brake pads from the belt off my school trousers

I will just leave it in the outhouse.

only problem is with the 600p is the reeling in ratio, think it is 1-1 not like the new multipliers which are 7-1. Have botht the 600 and 602ap, the 602ap was a brilliant casting reel, but took you ages to get a fish in. Neither would be regarded as being any good for fishing these days.

Would the Shimano GT-R 4000 be any good for spinning/ lure fishing.
