hi mate, most lads wont tell you where to dig for lug as the place will get hammered, im not sure where your from but you can get rag from the middens in tynemouth, im no expert but im sure you have to wait for the biggest tides to get any decent sized worm. its hard work as well, much easier to just buy it.

if you do go digging make sure you check that you can dig first as some places you cant dig.

there is a few lads on here that dig and they sell the worm, it might be worth you asking one of them to pm you.

You will be lucky if people tell you that sort of info mate.
You will get told the odd place like the middens but it's not easy.

to avoid disappointment, u r best advised to call ahead and order ya worms. plan ahead. as the saying goes fail to plan and you will plan to fail . no one is really gonna disclose the worm bed locations and most of them are wiped out anyway . there are however alternative baits to use for fishing .

They are not hard to find mate, just have a wonder up and down some of your local beaches and look for casts and make a few test digs...

I'm not 100% sure but I was under the impression the only place in the NE digging is forbidden was Budle Bay...?

As prev said, you want the bigger spring tides and it is very hard work, especially this time of year as in the winter the worms burrow much deeper, I find it far cheaper to buy the worms than digging but thats when I combine my fuel costs with the length of my personal time.

Have you not seen people out digging when you are fishing?
I know many places I have seen getting dug regularly when I have been out fishing and I have not even tried them yet, but they obviously provide worm as you see diggers there every low tide!

The time you will put in to looking and finding worm beds will be minute compared to the time it will take you to dig them! (Unless you do it for a living, them guys can go!)

Also I hope your back is strong, otherwise your worms will be dead by the time you recover enough to get out fishing
