    Can anyone help with the type of rig to use,along with the best hook size

    All depends on the ground your fishing mate, is it clean groundor a rock mark?? i dont wanna give away my tactics for the comp saturday lol

      2 hook flapper. 2/0,3/0,4/0s depending on the stamp of fish there and baits used.

        What he says - also a single hook clip down or flapper (with a rotten bottom) is useful for fishing the heavy cabbage at the north end of the beach (from the Briar Dene up-over) or from the boat station or prom at high tide.

            Lol i generally always use 2 hook flappers with either 3/0 or 4/0, also stocked up with some nice peeler for sat ready to catch nowt haha

              If you’re not fishing the comp then the advice above is good, also, it’s only worth fishing Whitley beach when there is some movement. The rougher the sea the further north you fish.
              If however, you’re fishing the comp then the secret killer bait is old fish skins and bacon fished on a 10/0 hook to help get past the crabs. Use a light weight to keep distances down too.
