  • fished today sunday!!!WARNING!!!!!

me and the old fella had a session on the gare today 7 till 5 plenty of whiting and a couple of small codling between us.heaps of bites all day, couple of other lads got good size codling and whiting, rag lug crab and mackarel strip.weather and everything apart from the sea perfect, got really hairy on the way upto high water, waves washing the length of the pier only us and another couple of lads left by home time.thats when the nighmare started on the way back round the end of the pier heading for home got caught out by two breakers,i grabbed the old fella he grabbed me and the wall of water went up to our arm pits, the box got washed up the pier wall.Managed to grab it and carry on to be hit by another.its a lesson that wont be forgotten in a hurry, dont risk it lads and dont try to guess when the calm spot is,if we\'d been alone we would have been washed off...............and to the two lads who were warned about it and were going to go round the end \'because they were fishing a cod comp\', is that fish really worth it!!!!!!!!!!

I\'m Adams \'old fella\' and what he didn\'t say that the tackle box in question is one of those Black & Decker double height work station on wheels full of lead weights, 6 reels solid stainless steel \'bonker @12 inches long pliers etc etc and the sea lifted it level with my head hanging on like hell But I looked after my bairn as he is only a little lad

Eight people were washed in and had to be rescued from Brid pier on friday night, one of them a woman suffered head and back injuries.Seems they had been out for a drink and at 3am they decided to go and play with the waves.

pleased you\'s got back alright,i fish with with my bairn most of the time,he\'s only ten,its always in the back of my mind when the sea turns nasty (what if), i got hit by a wave at Cambois last year, flat on me face with half the North Sea flowing into my waders, the bairn was on his backside as well, laughing.I spend 95% of a session watching what the bairn is doing, better than walking the streets causing trouble !!
          Cheers Alan...

ADAM you are one lucky angler well you and your fella are ,makes you think twice dont it !!
i saw an angler swept of a pier years ago and it was only a small amount of sea that took his legs from under him.He was rescued by two other anglers that were further down the pier.We found out that he died two days later from hipothermea.
It seems that you only realise that the sea is probably the most powerfull thing on earth, when you see or experience something of this calibre, and your right it isnt worth it ,theres always another day
