  • st peters basin fishing?

was thinking about heading down there in the next couple of days, been checking it out on google maps realized its only about 15 min bike ride away from mine, some reason i thought it was near shields. anyway iv never fished there. is there a certain spot recommended encase there's any big snags about? and how safe is it. safe to fish on my own with a (expensive)mountain bike? or is that just too tempting for a radgie .
was thinking maybe a very early morning session just to be safe
oh and if anyone fished it recently let me know how you got on.
    cheers

i fished it not too long ago and didnt get snagged once, its well lit and caught plenty of whiting casting just straight into the middle. i fished from opposite the marina office basically, its inbetween two sets of houses, there are signs there saying no fishing outside of them. I fished around 6 - 11 at night, if it was an early morning session just dont wake the neighbours i guess. didnt see any chavs around when I was there but might have been just lucky. I would think you would be very unlucky to run into anyone dodgy early morning unless it was a weekend and you caught someone walking home

Hi m8 - might see you there tomorrow. Planning on getting a couple of hours in somewhere just to get out the house. You can fish anywhere on the whole length of the walkway - the "no fishing" signs have no legal status apparantly - just put up by a local or two. You will be able to keep your bike right next to you wherever you fish. I'm not sure if there are any fishing hotspots as it seems to fish along its whole length although some may favour the end wall at the west for shelter purposes and others down from the marine office as you can park and fish from the car. Good luck!
So long and thanks for all the fish! (www.lsbsac.co.uk)

Alreet Ozzy, been down there with the youngin a couple of times lately and always had fish, its mainly whities and flatties with the odd small codling most times i've found macky strip out fishes the worm baits like. Last time i was down there though there was a seal knocking about. As for the radgies and that you should be ok never had no bother off anyone including the people who live there. The lads are right about the dogs like, loads of people walking dogs along there and most of them are off the lead, so deffo watch ya bait. Loads of joggers too, some alrite MILF's so even if ya not catching you've got a bit to look at.

              Good Luck.
