  • Amble SAC open matches

I see amble had a super turn out for their open on Sunday 558 I was talking to some lads at the w/I they said they would like to fish other opens as well as their club matches but the only way they can do this is to fish 2 matches in 1 day which is 2 much to do . it is also not helping the other clubs turn out must of the northeast clubs if they have a match on the same day as an open they will change their day or run It in conjunction with the open why will amble not do this

Are you talking about Open comps working around club comps, or club comps working around Opens ?

The former isn't going to happen, the latter seems to work quite well as it is.

what i am saying is opens are picked some times years in advance so why cant clubs run there club match in conjunction with the open so there members can fish it without missing there club match it would be a nice gesture letting the other clubs know that you are supporting there open how would it be if every club in the north-east fished on a Sunday and put there club matches first and your numbers were down

        I get you.

A lot of local clubs will run their weekend matches in conjunction with whichever open happens to be on that weekend, but sometimes it's down to personal choice, which is fine.

I also heard a couple of lads talking about missing out on their club match on Sunday, but they were from Whitby !

i think you are missing my point why wont amble sac make it possible for there members to fish & support other club opens as other clubs do with yours the only way your members can do this is by missing their club match or by having to fish twice in 1 day

Any of our members who want to fish the opens do so.

If they fish the club match afterwards is up to them.

Like all clubs, a lot of members aren't interested in fishing open comps, including our own.

our club [ hartlepool pirates] try to arange our club comps around the major opens to allow those members who want to fish them the chance.

our matches are picked each month with proposed dates and a majority vote.

so if the vote was to fish a club match on the day of an open, its up to the individual which they enter.

dabcatcher that seems a good way to do it but as for amble not so good the way i see it if the league in the amble club is close then even if a member wanted to fish a open then the club gives him no choice but to fish there match or take the chance of losing ground in there league nice to see they are thinking of other clubs i know Newbiggin and seaton sluice run their matches in conjunction with the opens but not amble
