Thought about this a while ago and was\'nt sure how to put it,so here\'s away anyway.
Does any Open Competitions cater for Disabled anglers or OAP or mature anglers if thats more politically correct, these anglers may or may not have been able bodied and maybe entered competitions in the past but are unable to enter now because they can\'t get to a specific fishing mark or maybe they\'ve always fancied having a go,as a rule most comps are at low water, most competitions exclude all piers and rivers with usually the exception of Blyth West pier, which is a canny walk from the car park (disabled badge holders can take there cars along to the pier,I think you have to apply for a pass with Blyth Harbour Commision )
Could a concession not be made for Anglers with disabilities or are not as fit as they used to be.It could increase the numbers that enter a comp and also give the club hosting the comp a bit of publicity for all parties concerned.
I was talking to a lad fishing at Blyth harbour a while ago who was in a wheel chair and he said he has very few safe places to fish and misses fishing on the rocks and beaches.
just food for thought .............
