  • New National Sea Federation ?

I am hearing "whispers" of a new National Federation of Sea Anglers to be formed, because quite frankly the Angling Trust do not seem to have any interest at all in the sea anglers of this Country. I believe that it is because they get no money from sea angling and this is why they don't bother. Yes - I believe that they did do some work for the sea anglers down on the south coast. I received an email three or four months ago from somebody in the A.T. who withheld their name. The message read "at this moment we have no interest in the North at all". If this is true, this is an insult to every sea angler in the North East of England. Do these highly overpaid people who run the A.T. realise that here in the North, we have more sea anglers than in any other part of this Country. I spoke to a number of people in the Angling Trust telling them about the big Open Competitions which are run in this area, and I suggosted to them that Membership Forms for the A.T. could be sent to the Secretaries of the Clubs running these competitions and also tackle shops here in the North. What have they done ? Nothing ! I spoke to the Executive Director of the Angling Trust last week and offered the opportunity for someone from his organisation to come onto my "Gone Fishing" Radio Programme once a month and give updates on the A.T. and Fish Legal. His reply ? "We are not interested" !!! I will keep you updated on the formation of this new Federation which involves some top name sea anglers from the South of the Country, the Midlands and here in the North East.

I've heard the same rumours for quite a while Sam.The AT have no interest in us, why should we support them ? BUT...as usual there's a lot of talk and a real lack of willingness to get the ball rolling.

            National Sea Federation.

The ball is already rolling Tony. I can assure you all it will NOT be a Southern organisation, it will be for the WHOLE country. I'll make sure of that, yes, I'm involved. Tight lines.

SAMF southern orientated? SAMF is represented in every region of the UK.
The secretary lives in Preston, Lancashire.
The North East rep for SAMF is Bob Gascoigne.
