Problem with Whitby is that the skippers want £35-40 per head and the harbour facilities are very poor. Go up the road to Hartlepool and it\'s £25 per head with excellant facilities and better fishing!

        Hi Macky, you get everywhere.

Mike you may be right about the price, But your comment on the fishing is a long way wide of the mark. When did Hartleppol last have a 58 Lb cod and a 40 Lb ling plus reguler ling in excess of 30Lb and cod over 30Lb taken on uptiding gear 500 yards from the shore?
If you think Hartlepool is better than Whitby then you booked the wrong boat . Try sea-otter2.co.uk for some real fishing.

Point taken about the facilities though. Absolute crap. The council and harbour comittee need to pul there finger out as they are losing business for the town.

That aside we still have the best port in the country for Ling and Cod

Well, it was hell on earth! 15-20ft swell and most of the boat was sick (I managed 6 hours vomitting and wretching which was agony). Slept through much of the day but there were some decent cod about. The biggest landed was 14lb 2 oz. Went on Geronimo which has a very helpful skipper!
