I got this for xmas, Had 6 cast of it since then that all resulted in huge birds nests. Seems like the line is stopping in mid air every time. Ive put the brakes in (2 red ones). Any advice where im going wrong? it isnt over lined and never had this problem with my last reel. Only diffrerence is the slosh hasnt got a level wind, Am thinking it may be the way im putting line on new spool? But either way its driving me mad!!

Most people take the brakes out of sloshes mate, never know why but this might be the reason i know i did as soon as i got it.
Have you adjusted the spool control etc so the spool runs but not to fast using the brakes? because if it is running to fast thats whats causing the over runs... Also line could be a contributing factor if its a high dia line or a one that i describe as springy this makes it nest all the time.
Maybe the shockleader not is catching on a ring?
There could be many reasons, but the one id put it down to is the adjustments you can make to the speed of the spool. As ive had this problem...

Straight out of the box they will be way too fast for a begginer, add afew drops of red rocket fuel aswell as your brake blocks in till you get use to it. The end spool knob should be adjusted so theres just the very slightest wiggle in the spool, left to right. Under fill the reel, say 3/4 full if your still having problems, also try using higher braking strain lines. You shouldn't need to feather the spool during the cast in my opinion unless the reel is running too fast or you have a bad casting technique.

When i first got my slosh 30 i had loads of problems with it i even emailed daiwa to ask if i could send it to them to have a look at it incase it was something the matter with it.i fannied around with it for a bit longer and discovered that the reel did not like the rod it was on.tried it with another rod and it has been perfectly fine ever since but not with the original rod it was going to be used with!!.Im sure there was a post last year about the same problem and the lad tried it with another rod and it seemed to do the trick for him as well!!The only fish i want this year is a double figured cod!!!

I'm in the same boat with my sl20sh. Same problems so I've put mine on ebay. I have bought a okuma magnetix 20 and it is obviously modelled on the slosh but with the addition of mag breaks. You could get a straight swap online. It's the first time I have strayed away from the big 3 daiwa, penn or abu but glad I did. I have never cast as far or with such ease. I'm going to get the larger okuma magnetix 30 model next month.

I remember getting one of the okuma 'cheap' fixed spool reel years ago when they first came out. All the mags at the time gave them great reviews. They were not like most of the crappy new brands that came out. I have used okuma fixed spool reels for carp when i replaced my shimano baitrunners. I was always wary of gettting a multiplier as until recently you had to spend alot to get alot of reel. Thankfully this is no longer the case.
