Whitburn thursday night

Hi all, just got back into fishing again this winter, I fancy my first proper outing other than the river around hebburn and jarrow.
I'm going to fish the doors area on the turret in whitburn, any advice on getting onto the north skeer beyond this? I've only been on once before with a friend who no longer fishes? cheers
