For spinning for pollack i use something with a lil bit of grunt a fox worrior 3lb test carp rod, as i found spinning rods just cant cut the mustard when your getting them upwards of 4lb.

For bass i use a sonik sk3 9ft spinning rod, cracking rod thinking about getting the sk4 10ft one this year tho, so if your after a 9ft rod maybe i can help? its top condition took great care of it

if your spinning you should really look at the teklon range- for around £100 you get a rod that will make your lures work. fish with good quality 15lb braid and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

interesting thread, looking myself for a scratching/summer river/clean beach distance rod [tip tornado match?] (15 pound line and leader)
                  and a spinning rod

thoughts turning to spring already after a dire winter. very hit and miss.

I know some members have said they use bass rods but I could not disagree more. Whilst the Japanese style rods are great they may be out of some peoples budgets. You want something with a fast action so you can work those lighter lures as well as your jellies and spinners and most manufacturers offer rods in the £50-£70 range that will do this well. I would always go 10ft you will really see the benefits both in distance and control. Yellow braid for visibility and good quality fluro leader is equally important to get the best from your fishing. Can't wait to get back on the west coast of scotland and the Mull in the summer. Cracking fishing and beautiful surroundings. Tight Lines.

What is the action like on the Cherrywood, is it too stiff to play the lures?
