Fished the Alcan beach yesterday afternoon from 2.30pm - 11.00pm. Over 8 hours fishing..............result ONE BITE !! Lucky for me I connected and eventually landed a nice cod of 6 1/4 lbs. Other than that the bait was never touched. Not even whiting or coalies to keep me amused. Big sea running, but when I arrived at the beach nothing had been caught on the flood tide during daylight. However I fished the tide back into darkness and eventually caught the fish about 2 hours before low water. Weed was a bit of a problem around low tide, but I persevered hoping the fish would come on on the flood as the sea was dropping away nicely all the time. By half tide though I'd admitted defeat and packed up. Lovely mild night though with a bright near full moon.
This was my first outing this year and my first fish. So my average weight of fish this year is 6 1/4 lbs !! (Well it sounds immpresive)
