i think i'll give sharpys a shot tonight even though its as flat as a witches. if your baits not in the water your not gonna catch out and its getting to that time, pig time :)

Back in the 80's I was fishing on sharpness, when an angler fishing castle rocks to my right wandered across asking if I had any scales. Caught a good'n I said, and went back with him to take a look, and lying there was a "pig" of a cod around the 14lb mark. Said he caught it right in the corner about 30ft from the pier, and said he was going home now. Well as you know, often where there's one, there's often its mate, so rock hopping over to the corner where i could see a nice hole in front of me only 40yds out, I cast my scarborough rod and reel baited with big ragworm out, and within a minute, bang, what a bite:eek:&%$***$" missed it, pulled in, re-baited with a very green milky ragworm, and cast back in. 20secs later, the rod was almost pulled out my hand, then feeling it swim away this time, struck, and it was on. Cranked it into the side of the rock I was standing on into 3ft of water, wearing ordinary waders, jumped in and lifted it onto the rocks. It was 2pm new years eve and I was now rather wet, got back to the car, drove straight along to Temple's tackle shop, and it weighed 15lb-12/3/4ozs.
That winter, there were at least 14 double figure caught in that area, so good luck.:D:D
