Can anyone suggest a beach that give access to deep water without a big cast? Or am I asking for too much?

colliery beaches were always your deep water beaches. Lynemouth, chemical beach, blast beach, Horden beach since the tipping stopped not so deep and not very productive in daylight nights best as always for the beaches.

Think I'm heading up Lynemouth on fri night. I've fished Marsden and whitly bay but the seem quite flat, always wondering how deep the water is.

Just dont cast far on lynemouth mate, seriously its no more than a 40-70 yard flick. You cast miles you'll be casting over the fish

the private beach, aim for the horse shoe ( crescent or half moon as its also known) its a gulley running pretty much paralel with the beach, cast about 70 - 80 yds, or go to cresswell and fish the high rocks into the gut

You don't need deep water If you're fishing at night on the beaches.

But when I'm fishing shallow beaches and theres a sea running my rod hoes like mad al the line cuts through the breakers . Being higher on a steep beach would be easier.... I think.

you could always put your rod up higher in the rest to combat the rollers, failing that a few casting lessons to get you that bit more distance would be better for you mate

You need to stand up to the surf with your rod in hand up high, resting it on your knee.

DO NOT put your rod up close to the sea in the stand unattended when its running cos you may well loose it.
