Can anyone suggest a beach that give access to deep water without a big cast? Or am I asking for too much?

the private beach, aim for the horse shoe ( crescent or half moon as its also known) its a gulley running pretty much paralel with the beach, cast about 70 - 80 yds, or go to cresswell and fish the high rocks into the gut

you could always put your rod up higher in the rest to combat the rollers, failing that a few casting lessons to get you that bit more distance would be better for you mate

DO NOT put your rod up close to the sea in the stand unattended when its running cos you may well loose it.The 'five plums!' Northumberland sea league champions.
