    was woundering if any of you lads have used lead from the tracking off car wheels cos ive been giving sum. well loads actually but its all oily would it still melt down or wud it be better to clean it? any sugestions.

    Melt it and skim or soak the oil with a cloth from the top, keep the heat just enough to melt the lead, the oil wont ignite as i used to work with molten solder which had a layer of oil on top to make it flow easier.

      I used to use it years ago mate, it can blow every now and then but the quantities I got made it worthwhile at the time, massive amounts of waste is produced from it, clips oil slagg. If you are getting it for nowt then fire away with it, just be careful of moisture, get some goggles and keep your arms covered.

        cheers lads ive made a few weights lyk out of clean roof flashing the other day still got sum flashing left so al be sorted realy for weights for awhile. just my uncle brought loads ov this for me tday but its full ov debbery off the garage floor and oil. aye i got it for nowt loads as well so laughing realy cheers for heads up...

            As said harder to melt I also have used lead from car batteries which is a bit easyer its supprising how much a car battery holds aswell
