Got a tope once at Auchenlarie Caravan Park. Was ledgering with spinning gear using sandeel. My target was doggies and thornies. Got a tope about 12lbs and what a scrap. Hooked it right in the corner of the mouth.

You just never know what willo turn up over there. My pal tried to foulhook a thresher off the flat rock !!!

A better bet is to camp at the Clashwhannon caravan park in Drummore.

Not sure what Martin charges a night £5/6 but at least you have bogs and a shower and water there and a good pub on site.

We have a static caravan there and stay there for most of the summer so if you want any more info just shout up.

Cheers matey and yes pop65 will sort you out a few marks no bother. Having said that a lot of anglers on this forum make plenty of trips over so you will get plenty of advice off them.

The only time I use a beachcaster off the shore over ther3e now is if I am having a go for conger. Otherwise its spinning gear all the way for the pollack, wrasse and bass.

For those of you who want a bit more comfort there are 5/6 rental caravans on the Clashwhannon site. All have fridges, showers, toilets, cooking equipment. The budget vans start from £55 a night which works out fine if there are 3/4 of you.

http://www.clashwhannon.co.uk/ I am not sure what Martin and Louise charge for camping.

The Sands of Luce at Sandhead also take on tents and also have hire vans http://www.sandsofluceholidaypark.co.uk/rental.html

There are also Ardwell chalets and they do look very nice, had a peek through the windows !!!! http://www.ardwellholidaychalets.co.uk/

Hope this info is helpful to you

We spend most of the summer over in our van on the Clashwhannon and anyone is welcome to call in for a cuppa or a bit advice. Ours is van no 5 on the top site straight in from the main entrance.

The caravan park is on the edge of the village of Drummore. The Clash pub on the site is a good boozer and has a restaurant, does bar meals and carry outs. There is also a dominoe knockout on a Friday night and there is a pool table and dart board. Also WiFi.

This is our veranda and as you can see the village is only a couple of minutes walk away. Had many a drunken night sat here !!!!

In Drummore you also have -

The Queens Hotel which also serves meals

The Ship - its now a Thai Restaurant

Mariners Cafe - good grub and does a legendary anglers "bellybuster breakfast". Also WiFi.

                          The Shop - food/newspapers/booze

                          Post Office

Hope this info is useful to anyone thinking of coming over. Tope are also a possability off the shore.
