  • Whitley Bay Beach Info Please

Can anyone tell me the best time and conditions to fish Whitley Bay beach. I have been told that it will only fish at certain times under certain conditions. Is this true? If it is, can anyone tell me what they are? Also heard Tynemouth pier is good fishing, if so, where abouts? And is the climb really that bad?

Fishes best 3-2 hrs down to low and 2 hrs up and yes it's best when there is a big sea on. I like it as big as possible but you will find this is the same for most of our beaches. You will still get small fish when it's flat.

Not fished the pier at night but the climb ain't that bad from what i've been told and yes it's fishing well if you are one of the lucky anglers but not for everyone.
Best shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach

For whitley the bigger the sea the better, and i find it best to start at little bay(if you park at the cafe in the middle of the beach and walk north up the prom till the end, its roughly in line with the end of the prom) and work your way down the beach till you find the fish. Big tides are best so you can access the skeers, but too big and most the marks will empty out. 3 hours down and 1 up i find fishes best. Have a look on nesa homepage in the northeast marks section, theres a good map of whitley beach in there.

The pier's quite easy to get onto, afew different ways to get on, easyest seems to be if you go up the ramp walking towards the peir and climb round that fence(river side) by steping ontop of the spikes, you can do this on the lower section aswell but abit trickier.
