  • Roker Pier UPDATE

I've just been on the phone to the Resorts Office with regards to Roker Pier and this is how it stands at the moment.

There is a Safety Inspection due to be carried out at lunchtime today, Friday 25th November. If the repairs that have been carried out, and the barriers that have been put in place around where the holes are for the new gates to be fitted pass the aforementioned Safety Inspection.

The Pier will be open on Sunday for the competition, WEATHER PERMITTING.

During the time of the competition, the pier gates will REMAIN OPEN to both fishermen and the General Public, therefore keeping the Pier WITHIN BOUNDS AND FISHABLE TO MEET COMPETITION RULES.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OPENING OF THE PIER ON SUNDAY IS STILL BASED UPON THE PIER PASSING THE SAFETY INPECTION AND WEATHER PERMITTING.

I will update this post after I speak to the resorts Office at 3pm, when I have an answer to whether the Pier has Passed the Safety Inspection.

I've just been back on to the resorts office and

ROKER PIER WILL OPEN AT 11AM ON SUNDAY......WEATHER PERMITTING.....FOR THE COMPETITION. IT WILL BE OPEN TO FISHERMEN AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL 5PM SO IT WILL BE IN BOUNDS AND FISHABLE FOR THE COMPETITION.THERE WILL ALSO BE STEWARDS PRESENT ON THE PIER FOR SAFETY REASONS TO KEEP A CHECK ON THINGS JUST INCASE IT GETS TOO PACKED

Cheers for the update. Im thinking the wind will be to harsh to fish the pier although i could be wrong, but winds predicted to be gusting to 50-60mph so the rod tips will be bouncing all over the place Only good thing is that the wind is showing as weakining through out the day on sunday.
