      • Tell the truth

Can some one tell me where these rule on in my book I purchased my book on the tuesday and this was not mentioned and they was no poster in the shop I went to I have also checked with the following shops and no one had this posted up or new about this Reelsport both shops Rutherfords Frazer. I have been informed it was in one shop only Are we mind readers or what. (The rules were clearly stated in local tackle shops and in the program which all anglers had a copy of,there was nobody to be past the gate before 8am which came from the port of tyne authority.) I think if I checked the other shops it would not be there either

But... the rules regarding the pier were posted on here for all to see. I think part of problem was that our good and trusting secretary and chairman were only given the info about the pier opening from the habour master only a few days before the open, and the booklets were made before then.

People really need to stop nitpicking here, where a good club and the lad in question was in the wrong. He went around the gates before the designated time and technically he unfairly got the pick of the hotspots first (spots that did produce fish on the day). Many anglers found this unfair, where the complaint was passed to the committee and was handled fairly and responsably. We are one of many major club in the Northeast and have held the open responsably for 63yrs to date. There's probably been many complaints like this before, so why is this occurrence any different.

Just let's what happened pass and get on with life, its only a sport, not a crime.

Just in case anyone points the finger I did not take the photo and refused the Mirror permission to use images of the one crowned the winner.

                        • i might upset a few people here and its not intentional, BUt i think the lad should take legal action. They say he was in breach of the rules, they allowed other anglers who climbed onto the pier after the gates were closed to fish and weigh in, even claim prizes, everyone who entered onto the pier after the gate was closed was in breach of the rules and the committee flouted those rules.

It doesnt matter how you dress it up, by disqualifying the angler and allowing others to enter legally when the gates were locked, is a flagrant breach of the open rules, by the committee no less.

And i will state now that i think had anyone climbing around ( in the hours of the open) the gate, fell and seriously hurt themselves had tried to claim off the SSclub liability insurance would have been told " you should not have been climbing around the gate , its illegal and it invalidates the insurance". Therefore if it invalidates the insurance, anyone climbing around should have been automatically disqualified.
The lad has a good case for his claim, and the club have no legal defence in this matter.

                            • shields pier the open what a farse

look at it this way if they did'nt open the gate's and everyone on the pier would of had to get off and them at the gate waiting would of had a headstart and a good laugh they would of been first to shoot off and find another shot while them on the pier would have not know'n till the gateman went up and told them but thats the chance they take and has always been that way over the years
