is it any good up here,im looking on net and there is some good info on winter flounder from the estuarys further south but is it any good up here ,was catching nice plaice and flounders from the tyne estuary in the spring and summer.i know the plaice will be long gone but do the flounders stay over the winter,if not is the beaches worth a try for them, wouldnt mind catching a 2 to 3 lbder and its saying winter is a good time for the bigger ones

Most NE anglers understandably get obsessed by cod in the winter but there are tonnes of decent flounders to be had from the sandy beaches. Warkworth, Druridge and Embleton are good. Any fish over 1lb is good and a few might go 2lb. The wear used to have whoppers too but not sure there's many now. If you do try the beaches remember to cast really really short with worm and fish baits.PBs...Cod 8lb2oz.. Turbot 3lb2oz.. Whiting 1lb8oz.. Coalie 1lb9oz.. Flounder 1lb7oz.. Dab 15oz.. Plaice 13oz.. Bass 1lb 6oz
