  • Tyne and wear area.

    Just a nosey question here.

What is your line set up for the likes of sheilds pier/walkway/groyne/roker pier/ratty all along the coast line really.

For example. Do you use 30/35lb mono straight through fishing ss pier etc or lighter line with a rubbing leader to belt it out a bit further.

I use 15lb mainline with 50lb leader for all of my fishing, I mainly fish along the tyne, walkway, S/S pier and beaches.

If you fish different marks you really should have at least 2 reels.
One with light mono and shockleader,IE Abu 6500 or Penn mag for smooth ground.
One with 30 or 35lb straight through for the rough,IE Diawa Slosh 30,Penn 535 or Abu 7000 and 9000.These are bigger reels that will hold enough heavy line.
Certain marks on Sheilds and Roker piers will need heavy line and others you can use the light line.
At the Ratty you can use light line and shockleader.

I'm currently using the slosh30, but was thinking of getting 30/35lb sensor straight through for sheilds/roker (when it opens) Rarely do clean ground but i like hendon every now and again after a ruff-in.

14lb never go above 18lb on the rivers and piers

rough 40lb straight through for lobbing it
