According to the Jan edition of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying, we are in for a Bass explosion due to the warming seas.
Figures of note from DEFRA\'s sample netting in the Thames:
1980\'s, no more than 20-50 bass in samples
2001 -3500
2002 35,000
2003 17,000
2004 20,000
Interestingly the recreational Bass fishing industry is work £200 million already, yet the first sales of commercial Bass landings ony generates £3.2 million!
So what are the chances of Bass off the NE coast being a viable passtime?
cheers
