Hi mate, I generally like to fish the first of the flood at this place, on the smaller tides you can fish all the way up if you like. Tomorrow's LW is approx 9am, size 1.17, so you should be good for about 9am-12ish - could even start a little earlier & fish the last of the ebb.

You want a good chuck of at least 120 yds, more if you can, and despite the recent dredging there are still a few snags about so reel in like the clappers!! If you use line of around 0.35mm (15lb or so) you'll hold better in the tide, and generally a one hook clip-down rig is what I'll use (or a two-hooker if there's lots of small stuff about). If there aren't too many people around you can chuck a bit to the left (when the tide is flooding) and let out a bit of a bow in your line - again this'll help you hold bottom better.

Bait-wise, I'd be taking crab (fresh or frozen), lug/blacks and possibly mackerel-strip & rag worm if there are whitings around (more of them usually caught over high water).

Probably most important, keep an eye on the river traffic - a lot of boats can come pretty close resulting in sliced lines, so if you see something heading your way it's always best to reel in just in case. Many of the fishing boats will turn into the gut at the other end of the quay, but if they don't make the turn you should just about have time to reel in fast & get your gear back!

      Hope this helps a bit,
      Gary
