  • another large halibut killed for a record

    World Record Halibut

I like to hear of these amazing size halibut being caught by anglers , but it is so sad to see them dead on shore for records, anglers and magazines all go on about catch and release in the UK,but if more anglers keep killing these large halibuts in norway you are taking more and more breeding fish out of there breeding areas, and killing your own sport ,not just these fine fish, its about time there was a total ban on landing them ,?

      its a shame

but when they put things like

      £25k as food

the angler is sure to kill the fish

I heard they are nice to eat.

Do they catch these monster every day of the week or just now and again. ??
and are they killing them every day of the week cos if they are killed in big number then something has to be done.

Cracking fish i would love to land one that big.

Thats why we go fishing to catch fish and eat them its not as if its going back dead its going to feed poeple but ever to there own.

If it was me i would want it landed it to see how much it wieghed would you not.
Feel free to take a look at my blog.

Why was it killed "just for a record"?
It was killed because it's worth a fortune and it tastes nice!

Steve I sorta agree wiv what ya sayin but if u caught a fish like that surely it would have ta be landed and weighed. The lad woulda got a wallet full of notes for the fish and another wallet full for the record mate. Its all good sayin youd release it but when theres a lot of money involved it might be a different story.
Nothing makes a fish bigger than ALMOST being caught

I see what you're saying, but after 3 hours of fighting, I think it'll have been on its last legs anyway and wouldn't have recovered.
