This picture shows the access path to one of the best fishing marks on the north yorkshire coast.(Bouldy)
This shot is taken half way down the cliff after climbing down a firemans hose.

Some of us must be barmy, but hey thats fishing.

I think (never actually had a tape measure with me) its 0ver 600ft high
Horrible going down, Monsterous going back up especialy after you have blanked
You can walk round from Staithes but its a long walk thru some of the roughest ground going, definately a waders job.

Been going up and down it for years and never heard of anyone getting hurt.
Stupid maybe, careful always, its a bit tricky but mostly knackering.
As for going back up with a bag of fish, thats not to bad Davy, tie the bag to one of the ropes and your mucker pulls it up.

Im not advocating people to go and try and get down it, if you dont know the mark best go with a local.
Just trying to show some of the tougher marks to get to.
And if you look in the title to the thread it does say or MAD which I think is a bit stronger than stupid!!!!!

Alan I think your last comment was a bit bellow the belt if u dont mind me saying so

Quote \"At least we know where our RNLI cash is going to get wasted\"

I have been fishing that area for 16 years and as of yet have never heard of the emergency services getting called out to anyone in difficulty at boulby.

RNLI cash is never wasted, even to help rescue those dickheads that ignore waning signs and storm gates ect: and find themselves in trouble.
                WASTED NEVER
                COULD BE AVOIDED YES

aslong as you take your time, dont fish it alone, and make sure you have a phone.

tala mate is that the bank that you were talking about in another post....\"just one of those sesions\"....where you had to go back up to get your bait you had left.......?

Nor Jonny m8, the mark I was on about is just round the corner, no where near as steep but just as high.
I hope the picture I have posted shows how dangerous and hard that Boulby can be to get down to, u never know it may help a few who go to bouldy cause they have heard how good it is without realising how tough it is. May save someone a long journey.

Only try it with someone who knows it like the back of their hand m8 , you can get round the bottom (fishes very well at low water, esp boiler hole) from Cowbar.
have a look at photorecce site, point (A) at Staithes .
But do read the info on it as well
