  • Some advice please!!!

My 6 year old has decided he wants me to take him fishing, problem is I know very little about it so would like any advice on places to go and places to dig for bait somewhere not too far from Wallsend

We have been fishing from North Shields fish quay but I seem to lose most of my set-ups by getting snagged on the bottom.

We've also recently been to Tynemouth to dig for ragworm but is there anywhere near we could find lugworm?

Any advice will be greatly received

dont think too many folks will disclose lugworm digging locations to u buddy, welcome to the site by the way...u r probably fishing a snaggy area. there a many beaches u can try which are probably less snaggy too..

Didn't realise they were a secret! No wonder I couldn't find anything through google.

            fishing

you can not beat jettys at blyth for a 6 y old if you fish straight down the side and wind up 2 turns the bairn can catch hundreds of poddlers this way (coalfish) thats where i started my kids fishing
old anglers never die -they just smell that way

hi mate. I put a thread on a few weeks ago about taking my 4 yr old grandson for his first sesh. Went to the Wansbeck estuary at low tide and he pulled a nice flounder out. It seemed a safe place to take a youngin and is a very nice place to be.

Thanks for all the replies, think we'll try Blyth today as we're up that way for his football match

British airways car parking on Tyne is spot on. Safe as houses. No snags.

Had a great day's fishing today even though it rained all the way through and all we got was crabs but he didn't complain once. Will be trying the rest of your suggestions in the following weeks.

                    Thanks to everyone

Went to Sunderland the other week and fished near the piers and he landed his first 2 fish, caught more than me that day and hasn't stopped rubbing it in yet!
