Start of the promenade to the island next to the beach might be worth a shot mate. I think it's a high water mark and there should be plenty of that with the tide sizes at the minute. It looks like a mixed ground mark to so shouldn't be to bad with the tackle loss. Good luck.

My advice is try some cleaner ground like blyth beach or blyth pier from the end as you got a basic set up it may not handle the rougher stuff. Opposite the astley arms on the coast rd from whitley can throw up allsorts good luck mate
Nothing makes a fish bigger than ALMOST being caught

Yer mate, you are right. I was just thinking of somewhere just a stones throw away within easy walking distance but you would loose some gear for certain.

Cheers for the heads up guys! walking distance sounds good lol will be fishing with 13ft beachcasters 60lb mono on fixed spool reels 4-6oz leads what size hooks would you recommend? will be paying a visit to the local tackle shop so can top up on the gear hopefully they will have some worms to go with the usual frozen macky n sandeel baits as the name suggests basicbob sums it up lol. will the beach at whitley produce flatties??

Thanks again will let you's know how we get on!

Lewis's tackle shop in Whitley Bay m8 is nearest (not far from Rex hotel on the sea front) and keeps good live bait and all other gear. Make sure you get a parking ticket as the wardens are sh*t hot.

60lb mono straight through is a bit too heavy mate, you will be better off with a 15lb main line and 50-60lb shock leader. Most beaches around the North East will produces flatties, there is a hell of a lot of small whiting around atm.

if you cross the road and get the 308 blyth bus runs every 15min day time and 30 mins night time you can get the bus to blyth pier. all bait works might get lucky, last bus about 10 50 pm
