  • 1st Greys rod in 10 years

Fancied another rod from a different manufacturer the last greys rod i had was a jupiter i liked the look of the platinum gsi and managed a good deal with a fellow member.

1st casting session with the rod was tonight after work first impression light pokey nicely balanced with the reel down 20cm from the butt, clipped a 5 3/4oz namix on and swung it out felt a little bit of bite back but very smooth through the middle of the cast and very fast recovery.

    full load 0.37 dia

Canny Cast i reckon a few swings on a sunday afternoon and it will be empty Gonna give it some stick fishing this week.

Good choice mate - after 4 years mines had a good hammering, I've managed to burst the high-build on every ring (the one bad point with Greys rods is their brittle high-build) - must put the old gal in for a rebuild soon....

Yeah, if south of the Tyne I'd check out Primo Man, the stuff he's posted on here looks top notch; if it's just a re-whip it shouldn't cost too much - cost only goes up when you've got to replace rings (and alconites ain't cheap). Funny that, I've got a few AFAW rods and had no bother at all with their high-build.
