Okuma magnetix - (MG) - 30 or 20 - gold sideplates and black graphite cage and black plastic lever for spool engage/disengage lever.(manually!!)
The latest version of the Okuma 'Magnetix' has two significant differences.
Okuma magnetic systems (MS) - 30 or 20 - silver sideplates and machined alloy one piece cage and metal lever for spool engage/disengage lever - but, as in a lot of premium reels you can engage spool by turning the handle.
The problem is that due to the size of the 'power handle' it has a tendancy to move during casting and engage the spool mid-cast!!! unlike lighter handles on the likes of ABU 6500's , 9000c's etc. Not good!!!!! Modifying them to remove the 'auto-engage' is an option. Okuma must have field tested this and found that out for themeselves surely but answers are hard to come by.
Very true about the power handle I put a Shimano power handle (unbalanced) on one of my 6500 as I had one spare. One session fishing was enough after three crack offs. Early ABU's re-engauged after a quarter turn the reel (they tiny handles). Once they put bigger handles on it takes a half turn to engaged.
I've got a 20 and a 30 that I got from Rutherfords over 2 years ago and they are both manual. If you are after a reel he might have some Greys Gmag 6 left he was selling them for £50.
