the Gemini breakers which look similar to the ones 'Jimmy' use are £2.24 for a pack of 5 and have been told that they are the safest to use when putting a bit of power into a cast.

You should not power cast with any weak link very dangerous . It is called a weak for a reason it is weak

The bead/stop holds the peice of metal along side the other bit then the bead slides up as it hits the water on impact which releases the bit of metal which also releases the wieght which is in the triangle bit behind the bead/stop. Safest rotton bottom ive seen.

if you look at the animated pic on here its the same type of thing as it hits the water it pushes the plastic up and realeases the hinge for the lead to fall with weaker line on

unfortunately you have it mixed up mate, the weak link is the smaller breaking strain line, not the actual link, its a weak link because the line snaps so you dont lose your gear

Call it a weak link or rotten bottom it is not designed for power casting. the ones you use. Rely on a plastic bead to hold it together if that cracks or breaks then what

you are wrong mate, they are designed to be used when power casting, why would the bead break ? and if the bead was broken you would notice when you went to lock the leg in place and so would obviously change it, but the other rotten bottom links are NOT designed for power casting.
Going by your theory then, a shockleader is no good then because a knot can fail, a lead link is no good either because the knot that holds it to the shockleader could fail.
At least my rotten bottoms lock the lead in place and it aint gonna seperate during a cast and let the lead fly anywhere.

ive used them rotten bottoms and not one has broke or failed to release and none has released during cast only when it hits the water which what they designed to do

There is a big difference between. The apporiate shock leader. Well tied knot lead link and a plastic bead . Good luck
