Marine Stewardship Council study in 2015: - "Cod was heavily overfished in the North Sea in the 1980s and 1990s but since 2006, with stringent regulations imposed on the industry, has shown a steady recovery and is approaching the level of maximum sustainable yield, the measurement widely accepted as the gold standard of responsible fishing." Pretty clear good news, right? Now this from the Labour Leave website, arguing for Brexit in order to save our fisheries: - "Gross mismanagement of EU fishing policy has all-but-destroyed our once-thriving fishing industry. Cod stocks have declined by 70% in the past ten years." Right. Well, someone is talking codswallop...... who is it?
