Marine Stewardship Council study in 2015: - "Cod was heavily overfished in the North Sea in the 1980s and 1990s but since 2006, with stringent regulations imposed on the industry, has shown a steady recovery and is approaching the level of maximum sustainable yield, the measurement widely accepted as the gold standard of responsible fishing." Pretty clear good news, right? Now this from the Labour Leave website, arguing for Brexit in order to save our fisheries: - "Gross mismanagement of EU fishing policy has all-but-destroyed our once-thriving fishing industry. Cod stocks have declined by 70% in the past ten years." Right. Well, someone is talking codswallop...... who is it?

From my records as former Secretary of Alnwick SAC I can tell you I saw a steady decline in catches year on year. Yes there has been the odd good year but I'd say the one talking 'cods wallop is the first commentator in your piece

Simple vote leave the eu in june then stick a 200mile exclution zone right round theU.K. except for U.K.fishermen and get the royal navy to enforce it. I will guarantee in 10 years we will have more fish than we have for the last 100 years living and breeding in OUR waters.

I been saying that for years, its exactly wat iceland done all those years back, and even threatened to shoot other countries fishing boats out of their waters If they tried to fish inside their 200 mile limit

agree mate, yet another reason to leave the EU, mind, not much RN left to do the enforcement and can't see us sending a Trident out to help, but an exclusion zone can only be positive
