  • night time mackerel hunt

    alreet lads i have a 1 hr window to fish tomorrow between jobs. am planning to try middleton pier to stock up on bait for the winter. dya use daylights ? as there is no day left? or can u only get mackerel in the night on bait /float? i have some spinners and can make some lumi homemeade feathers or should i just use silver minnow spinners?

    i would use a float. Not had much luck with anything els in the dark

      funny enough if you use black lures when its dark you catch fish,a mate of mine showed me years ago,they give a black silloete(cant spell it)against the light of the sky
      it worked for me

        Try some black flies if you're going to use them or float as previouslt stated

              This is very true, the black lures are more like what the fish would be seeing while hunting at night. The black lures under a moonlit night are killer for bass at the MOG, so i dont see why they wouldnt work for mackerel, i mean polish your hook and you will catch mackerel on just that during the day. They aint the smartest species.

                    Had a walk along middleton yesterday morn, four lads on all float fishing with mack strip for bait, caught a good few.
