Well where do i start been a interesting one this time round. Early in the season it was obvious that the usual run of fish just were not there on the usual haunts being the chems green wall blocks and south pier. Just ask the regulars they will all say been quiet.bar a couple of good sessions on chems cliiffs by our club lads. October i did manage a guddin from the green wall at 8lb. And no it wasnt off the south pier. Most of the good fish come inshore high water. ........... anyways a little later in season still the same just odd ones. Had weekly sessions with one 4lber in the bag being the norm not bothering with the usual garage mugshots as club lads constantly taking the mick lol. Dint worry lads i intend more mugshots come September. Moving on fished a tuesday ryhope sweep early in season and opted for a low water whitburn mark.had an excellent bag on crab thought id walked it but with being a heaviest fish match i was pipped by me marra andy rutherford and by the way i still dint believe where you got it from lol Anyways i fished a badger open as season was getting to the peak times and fished green wall was actually poor until high water one bite one fish. Yey a nice 6lber to get first prize (soz dad for hoying ya off me mark) few days later fished sunderland open and was blawn an absolute hooley sea flat as me grans...... so obviously headed for roker pier and searched for a tidal cod in the coloured water. Well.. Got hoyed off with 10 mins before comp.Wind was horriffic but i fancied my chances actually. Sod it headed to rat house no joy rats nibbling at me sarnys and townys trying to tell me how to fish. Last plan either hoy in the towel or go to a mark where i know from experience which can produce when flat . Marsden it was. Couldnt believe my look nee one there. Couldnt stand up with the wind. Thought perfect. Ha ha. Anyways had a couple of rod wrenchers whilst holding rod in the hurricane but every time these fish dove for cover in the kelp. Knew they were good fish so tried my best to get one. Got one to bottom of cliffs got snagged in rocks so thought sod it waot for tide to flood in cause i could see the bugger. And so the tide flooded releasing the fish. Wound the thing up 7lb 8oz to win sunderland open. Tell ya if someone offered me 800 quid to do it again id probably say no. How the hell i got it up i dont know. Also the shields open seen heeley pull in winner i was up near end on pier had a fish under 4lb was unlucky . Anyways season goes on fairly quiet with odd 5 pounders from the southy being the norm.come january i had two good sessions in a fortnight one having four good fish all over 5lb. The week after i was hooking really good fish and these were really good fish on good casts off the northy
Just couldn't get them off the bottom even with heavy gear. Fished amble open also and was a pleasure to watch crowe land a double to take first prize. Only fish of the day lol
Anyways enjoyed it and now my attention gans to the boats bring it on.
