    reel

there not a bad reel just a bit bulky remember thought if you have a decent fish on take ur time when reeling in as the retrieve is fast and you may pull fish off excellent for pulling fish through the rough ground though.

Get yourself an Okuma, keep the mags on full till you're confident, and you won't go far wrong for the money.

Some of the Greys have issues with the anti reverse pawl not working properly.
Yes!! They really do I have experienced this... Got all
the way to a fishing mark to try it and wasn't best pleased when I did. That's why you allways take a backup :P

i have the okuma and can not fautl it one bit, its an awesome reel, i got it as a spare and or to use with really heavey 35 -40lb straight through. i have used it everytime i have been out on a rough mark lol, the slosh30's have not been used.

i have had it for 18months now and nothing has ever gone wrong with it, its smooth, robust and well built for the money its worth. the power handle is good for cranking through kelp with a fish on as well.

defo worth the money, i know lads that have had the grays reels, used them once and sold them the next week! lol

its a lovely reel to cast with as well, you can give it a good chuck and back the magnets off a wee bit, just take your time with it at first ;D

No wonder a cannot sell me reel when all this noncense is getting said.

The problems with the greys reels first occurred when they were first released. All models made now are generally spot on. Mine made in 2011 and is BRAND NEW, I'm only selling it as I bought it and a really have no use for it as a generally stick to Penn reels.

I've also heard a dam few more excellent comments on the greys reels than the okuma. The okuma mag 20 is the worst of the two, but the 30 isnt to bad, apart from it being bulky and slightly heavy.

And its there opinion and I do respect that.

My opinion is I never liked the okuma magnetic reels since a first held and used my mate one, especially the mag 20.

Why build the mag 20 to be a powerful little reel, with a fast retrieve, mag control for distance, but give it spool that only holds 180yds of 18lb line! That was the biggest let down for me...

What would happen if ya were to cast out and happen to get stuck on the retrieve and lose alot of line?? Unless u have a spare reel or spool of line, your basically knackered.

Well am obviously 'out-opinioned' here so there's not much else a can say...

Though a will go off topic here and say that what 'tonybax' said was correct, should went the little bit extra and got a truely good reel like a slosh 20/30, or even a second hand Penn 525.

More to the point though 'lee_wood' its your personal choice and as you said your also just starting to use them, so good luck .

As for me a swear by PENN REELS, so that's why am selling the greys, which is still for sale if anyone's interested...
