    Tacklebox with Breakaway Carry/backrest Conversion.

Never heard of a problem or any issues with this bit of standard sea anglers kit.I use the Beta box with the Breakaway conversion like just about every sea angler in the country, mine still in hard use today must be 20 years old, battered, rusted roofing bolt fixings and all for most of that time, now ripped shoulder pads on the straps, and it just go s on doing its job it was made for year in year out.

Solid, almost total waterproof protection for your tackle and reasonably comfortable means to carry it around anywhere any distance, with a seat besides when things are slow in a session to sit down.Got to be in the top five of all time neccessary must have, useful items, innovations invented ever for all sea anglers, cant fault it.So would not worry about stories of it falling apart in to much of a hurry.

          Hello lads,
I got my replacement bolts from ebay, M5 dome head allen bolts, like these m5 x 30 stainless button head screw allen bolts x 10 | eBay

The square nuts I had to make myself from some stainless plate that I cut the squares out of and drilled and tapped.
I suppose that you could use normal washers and nuts but I'm a bit of a fanny with things like this so I made them. I'm an engineer also, so it wasn't a problem.
The normal bolts do the job well enough but I had cracked a seatbox and wanted to remove the back rest to fit it to a new and had a right game on to get the corroded bolts off, they had been on for a lot of years.

I have made a couple of mods to my box's, (I have a box I use at home and one I leave at the caravan), If I get the chance I'll put a picture or two up on this thread.

          Regards Ian

It cracked along the base, caused by just banging it down onto rocks instead of being more carefull and placing it down onto a nice flat area.

I never extend the back rests on mine so I can't comment on this.

(My mate Stan will probably come on and say it cracked because I eat too many pies )

I found out that they're pretty strong. Fell asleep one night session when sitting, well more like slouching stretched out on box (backrest up at highest setting), woke up when I hit my head on the path behind me. I'd managed to topple the box backwards some how whilst asleep. Box and fixings were fine, sore head though.
