  • Best bait and place to fish @ Seahouses.

I'm driving up to Northumberland to meet a friend and go shore fishing at Seahouses. Any advice on tides, bait, rigs etc would be much appreciated. I've only ever fished steep shingle beach at Dungerness.

Dunno of you've already been mate, but I find that fishing behind the shelter by the south pier is most productive on the ebb. If there's some sea running or it's a big tide I would move round under the cliff and cast into the bay. It's a mixed bottom but there are some really rough patches. The skeets behind the golf course are also worth a chuck. If I'm fishing these I tend to only spend 1/2 an hour in one place and move on if I'm not catching. Best bait crab. Fishing the beach by the concrete blocks can be good for flatties on the flood and sometimes a bonus codling if the seas away. Clean ground. Best bait is freshly dug blow lug ot rag tipped with squid. Good luck!

Thanks. Up here at the moment. Booked on a boat for Thursday but hoping for shore either side of that. Do you know anywhere local to get fresh bait or is it a drive down to Amble? Sorry for all the questions, usually fish off the shore at Dungerness, Kent.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. Got over to the rocks you mentioned with the stone hut and got some nice Coley. Also caught a couple of cod on boat with skipper Alan Dawson (and crew) offering great advice and knowledge. Managed to get along to Alnmouth as well for some Dab's... So a great few days. Fav place was off the rocks that you mentioned, so thank you.
