  • Whitley Bay 2011 Open details

A few changes this year, particularly boundaries & contest HQ: we've extended the boundary northwards to Seahouses south breakwater (excluding pier) and the southern boundary is now Tynemouth Pier (excluding the pier & all foundations). Correspondingly, to centralise the weigh-in a bit we're using the Bankhouse club in Newbiggin as contest HQ. We've also added a heaviest flatfish prize (£100)

52nd annual festival, Sunday 18 September
    Fishing from 10.30am - 2.30pm
Contest HQ - Bankhouse Club, 7 Front St. Newbiggin

    First prize - £500 cash
Supporting prize table courtesy of Greys, I D Fishing & Lewis Tackle
    Heaviest fish payout 50%, 30%, 20%
    Heaviest flatfish - £100 cash
Junior prize kindly sponsored by Simon at Lewis Tackle

    Entry: all seniors - £12 all-in
Juniors (under 16) fish for free but must be accompanied by an adult
Registration on the day 8am - 9.30am at Bankhouse club
    Weigh-in at Bankhouse Club - 3pm - 4pm

Tickets will be available the week prior to the event in local tackle shops (until saturday 17th) including; Lewis Tackle, W/Bay, I D Fishing, Byker, Frazers of Gateshead, Sport & Leisure, Blyth, McDermott's Ashington, Anglers United, Lynemouth & Amble Angling Centre

Full details, fish-sizes, rules etc can be found in the brochure that will come with your ticket.

Fingers crossed for good conditions on the day & hope to see you there,

    Cheers, Gary

Fishing ends at 2.30pm & weigh-in is 3-4pm, so up to one & a half hours to get back.

Tickets should be in the shops from today; forgot to mention in earlier post that tickets will also be available from Billy's in North Shields.

Tickets are in several tackle shops - I D Fishing in Byker or Frazers in Gateshead are probably the closest to you - I've put a full list in the previous post. They are available there all this week until saturday afternoon.

Not at all mate; if you get your ticket from one of the shops you're all set to go. These days we sell probably 75% or more of tickets in advance through the shops, meaning people can just get up in the morning and head straight to their marks.

                            Cheers, Gary
