  • Velvets under attack "again"

been down to Tynemouth Beach at low water today, took the grand kids hoping to get an odd crab/lobster to show them the different types, NOT A CHANCE. A couple of blokes with their families Thia/Vietnamese somewhere round there, they where there clearing the place out, had a couple of buckets full of velvets, tried to explain they could only take so many and of a certain size, although they could understand what I was saying they didn't give a hoot and went off quickly to theIR cars, info passed to NIFCA, suggest you all keep an eye out and report anything you see to your local IFCA

as anglers the likes of the IFCA'S need our help, we are on the shore a great deal of the time and see what is happening, let them know where, when and what you see that is going on that is illegal, take car reg numbers, and if possible get photos without getting punched. No good moaning if you don't do anything about it.

You guys should report it if wot your saying is right as there supposed to be ;liscenced to take velvets from the sea because if you dont i can see the authorities stopping all shellfish being taken from our coast for good due to the fact them along with other shellfish being over fished for personal use.
And to add insult to injury these people taken these crabs arnt useing them for fishing more like personal gain (earning a living from them ) so please let the authorities know about this kind of activities.....

You don,t need any license to take Velvets,Edibles or Lobsters from the shore.
There is a set ammount per day though.
10 Velvets,10 Edible,s and 2 lobsters south of the Tyne and one lobster north of the Tyne.
If you are using the collapsable pots you do need a license tag for each of these, which are free.

Oh well at least you give a good reason not to report it
