New rod reccomendations

Im after a new rod my last one was a reelsport response but never got the time to use it properly then gave up sea fishing to go coarse fishing

so what are people using atm, i like the look of the zziplex hi-flex bullet and read a few reviews on it about bite detection being good

so your opinions on your rods and what ground you use them on and how you rate it

will be fishing of the piers,beach and the odd rock mark

what you had in the first place was spot on mate. but there's the komp s, tip tornado s, c3ld, cmc etc.

i've never really used other other makes to comment on them.

A zipplex would be a big investment if its just for occasional use. I use a few rods and love the century cm, anyfish anywhere tournament match and zipplex f1. All used on beaches, piers, cliffs etc into mostly mixed ground. Personally i'd have a feel of a few you fancy in terms of feel, rod diameter etc and see if anyone has one you could have a go with. Always plenty of decent 2nd hand rods out there.

I use a wr300 mate, perfect for winter seshes but I use mine throughout the year whether it be for codling or flatties. Just a dream to use and I reckon canny bite detection though others may disagree with that.

thinking zziplex as ive had a few and theres nothing like a zippy for casting

Had a WR300 and absolutely hated it, far too stiff and unresponsive for all but the heaviest ground fishing. Not a nice rod to cast either, and I speak as a one time 240 yard caster.

What is your budget? If you are looking at a Zziplex and the Bullet Hi-Flex another option would be the M4 Evo, lovely rod very light, slim and a joy to cast. Will handle beaches and pier work with ease and won't let you down on the odd rock edge session. Another option is the HST, big brother rod to the Primo Synchro which is my absolute favourite rod.

Don't be afraid of going second hand for a ZZiplex either. Both my Primo Synchro and Dymic LT Bullet were bought second hand and they are in excellent nick for half the price I'd have paid new. As long as you can have a good look at the rod and manage to avoid the chancers (and unfortunately there are a couple on here) you can end up with a cracking rod for not a huge outlay.

im using the glass tip bullet at the min think its a little stiffer in mid section than the hiflex bullet, its a dream to cast looking forward to trying it out fishing this winter. think il stick to full carbon for the real rough stuff but anywhere from piers, beaches and in the rivers il be using the bullet.

Am messing about with a ttld for light, m4 evo for beaches and mixed ground and wr300 for the heavy stuff.

i would stay away from zziplex unless you have plenty of time on your hands to find the right one for you as zziplex are unique ie standard versions, hiflex versions, evolutions and glass tips get it wrong and it will be the worst money you have ever spent but get it right and you will love the rod .

Why not look at what i call bread and butter rods something like a new or second hand kompressor, kompressor ss or carbon metal crest these arent specialist rods but they just do everything so well ive had them all and think they are good rods loads a lads use them so there's the proof mate.

The one thing i will say is do your homework on what ever rod your going to buy especially if your going second hand.Not just things like what ground and best cast style but things like what is the exact size the rod sould be i'e 7ft tip 6ft butt should it have gold writing or white is it old made to look new just make sure your not getting someone elses cr*p thats been snapped and bodged if your not sure what size or what it should look like Ask theres always someone who's willing to help on here.
