  • crabs keeping them alive.

hi all im thinking of trying to keep crabs alive in my quaranteen tank for the winter. can anyone give me any information on how to do it or tell me where i would get the information from. somebody said that it wasnt hard and if you want to soften them up then you buy a ultra violet light and use it for a minium of six hours. is this true.

put them in a really cold fridge m8 put some damp newspaper over them the chill of the fridge slows thier metabalism right down hope this helps they will be very docile when u take them out but a bit heat from your hands and they will liven up

If what you're trying to do is get them peeling artificially by using uv light so you can have peelers all year round I'm sure there have been many people tried and failed in doing this. We would have peelers in the shops all year if this worked well. Good luck and keep us informed on how you get on mate. I'm sure you would have to feed them and keep the tank aerated but not sure myself how often this would have to be done.
