The Flattie fanatic is a superb rod without having to break the bank, I've got both the 11ft and 12ft versions and can't fault them, the 11ft version is the better balanced of the two and the most comfortable to use, the 12ft version however is capable of casting a tad further and also seems to have the better bite detection of the two.
Another option is the conoflex assassin, although it's marketed as a spinning rod it makes a superb estuary / river rod and also has loads of power if you do happen to hook into a good fish, the most used fishing rod I own, highly recommend it.
hmm do i go for a 6000 size abu or fixed spool like a Daiwa Emcast Evo 5000
i dont really like multis on light rods how does the fanatic feel casting with a multiplier on
use my fanatic (the old 11ft one) for spinning with fixed spool but have used it for bait fishing with 6500 before, like it better with the fixed spool but i guess its just what you feel more comfortable with
got to agree with micky love my flattie fanatic thats when i can get it off my son a lot of years ago i got a 6lb cod on it at hebburn marina with 6000 abu brilliant scrap that i,ll never forget and my biggest fish out the river.
