  • unusual rig

whilst fishing the other day i pulled in an old rig with one of the new metal bait clips and 3 other type of clips on and just out of curiosity wondered if there was any particular reason why, as it seems a rather expensive way if used like this on every rig when fishing

Yes me good mate that is one of those new 'Outcast' bait clips. There mainly designed for the likes of off the ground casters, like your self. They lock the hook into place in the clip so when you put the lead on the ground theres now way the hook can detatch. As you cast the force that is exerted causes the clip to unlock, allowing the hook to be release as your lead hits the water/bottom, etc.

There a very good lil invention. They are available separately or already attached to the 'Outcast' lead weights. Obviously wat the lad who lost this rig has done here is use a one of the breakaway lead links to attach his to the weight.

Hope this solves your little mystery buddy.

Yes and I EXPLAINED WHAT THE THREE WERE FOR EARLIER!!!

                1. to obviously attach rig to shockleader.

                2. the bait clip itself

                3. the clip attaching the the bait clip to the lead.

the bait clips are normally built onto the sinker but you can buy singles hence the split clip from sinker to bait clip the bait clip singles come with lead links which is the clip at the top of the bait clip and the clip on that is just a normal genie rig clip because whoever made the rig never attached the lead clip on his rig body so he just clipped it onto it

Never had a prob with them mate beach or pier apart from the plastic lock body moving down the lead wire. You just need to watch it and push it back up occasionally.

my opinion is,that he has added the links because when he tied the rig,the hook lenth was too long, and he has added another link to take the slack up
