  • Advice on Grays mk3 Apollo

wanting to buy the greys mk3 Apollo and was wondering if anyone out there can advise on whether to buy the 13ft or 14ft. i would be grateful for any advice.

Both versions are excellent, but I do have a preference for the 14ft one, as I own one.

All i can say is that it is brilliant, excellent casting capability whilst being able to haul fish through rough ground/kelp, etc, whilst still retaining excellent bite detection too. I must admit that the only problem these rods have and as do all the greys beachcasters do thesedays, the method they use to dry the highbuild is too mquick, causing it to britle, especially over the rings, and when you've had your first cast, most of it will start to show small cracks around the rings...

Apart from this minor fault though the rods are stunning to use.

    Happy too help matey!!

New range of Apollo's out next month mate - might be worth waiting & checking them out first, although no doubt they'll be selling the mkIII's off cheap as well, so you might get a bargain there.

One of my mates has been using the 13ft 6 "mixed ground" model this last week & is getting the 14ft "140" rough ground models next weekend to try out - I believe they're also doing a budget model that'll retail at just over a hundred quid. I haven't seen them yet myself but they should be pretty tasty - me, I'm still using my old Mk I !!

I had one for a little while and they are a nice rod but I had no confidence in it at all with greys track record so I got rid.

By all standards the MK1's are concidered legendary thesedays, they were excellent rods of there time and the good condition ones sold today are well sort after...
