Afternoon lads and lasses

Been long while since I fished but I am planning on getting out Monday and forecast looks fairly decent. Going to give Beadnell a shot but never fished area before.

Not looking for anyones specific marks or the likes, nor am I looking for a load of moaning a long the lines of 'got to get out and put the hours in', 'lazy', 'back in my day' nonesense. Just some straightforward advice please.

I am not the greatest caster so the beach is out for me. There is a large skeer running up from the harbour, is this worth a shot? Does it fish best on the beach side or into the heavier stuff over the back (North)? Or any other pointers anyone is kind enough to share

If you are fishing the long skeer, go to the end and cast just either side of the end.
Dont be blinkered though by heading straight to the end, some great fish come from the rocks just through the gap where you walk between the houses.
Two hours either side of low water but you can fish longer on the mark through the houses.

.think l/w is best fishing there,had some canny codling from there,also had a couple of small conger to 5lb,{wasent fishing for them}just lucky i suppose took my crab baits.lol.

Don't know if you will get t read this before you go to Beadnel but I would think twice. I fished the Amble Open there yesterday with about 15- 20 others and there wasn't one fish caught from any of the skeers. I heard that Hauxley produced some fish so you may want to head there instead.

.if it was me,id still give it a go,no 2 tides are the same.you could always fall back around seahouses,just back of the gun {thing}.ps,yes good headsup off Codman.

I fish Beadnell regularly and this year it hasn't fished great for me. Not compared to last year anyway. Don't get me wrong, there has been some cracking fish caught and some decent bags as well. However the best of the fishing has been during some of the big easterlies we have had (not many!). Outside of Easterlies Beadnell can usually be relied on to throw up fish, even when flat, but it just hasn't this year.

I have had lengthy conversations with people about reasons as to why this might be; sea temperature higher than normal, plenty of food off shore (there has been huge sprat and herring shoals close in this year) Crabs and crustaceans not heading to deeper water as it is warm meaning there is plenty of food and them not having to forage close in (except after a blow when there is a lot of easy feed) etc. etc. The upshot is unless we dive in and swim round with them we probably will never know!!

Beadnell is a great place however with a big selection of rough ground marks all the way through to clean ground fishing. I have learned an awful lot over the past few years by picking 3 marks and fishing them to death and keeping detailed records of conditions and what happened. This has helped me plan and has led to better and more consistent results. My best advice would be to have a look around on a low spring tide and look for features like weed beds or patches of clean ground amongst the rough and fish them. Build up a picture and try and think like a fish!

In terms of there being no fish about at the minute i fished craster in the open yesterday and had 2 fish but didnt here of another fish being caught from between where i was and Swine Dene even though there was prbably 50 rods between me and there! but as someone has already said no two tides are the same. As for me this weekend will probably be my last session of what has been for me a terrible season!

dont know if you actualy fished beadnell the other day jon.your not answering your phone either.you got a couple of good headsup off us nesa members.would of been nice to of had some feed back or report off you,what ever the outcome was???.
