  • north winds, west winds

over the last few years i have noticed that we seem to be getting more northerly winds in the summer and plagued with westerly winds in the winter not good for fishing here in the north east, years ago it was the other way around, does anyone agree with me.

when its a west wind the sea becomes flat ? would that then indicate better whiting conditions from the beach in the winter ?

with the whiting during the winter i really don't think it makes a difference wich way the wind is blowing they are either there or they are not ,on the other hand cod and mackerel to catch them really does depend on the wind direction at that time of year.

An old fisherman (no, not Alan) told me the following many years ago.
When the winds in the North it brings the big ones forth,
When the winds in the South it blows the bait into the fishes mouth,
When the winds in the East the fish bite least, and when the winds in the West the fish bite best.
And that is the biggest load of cobblers I've ever heard.
